How to use the BIMobject® App to embellish your Twinmotion project
Furniture, kitchenware, electronics, medical equipment, various types of windows and doors — the BIMobject integration to Twinmotion 2019 v2 opens up a whole new field of possibilities to style your project and bring it to life easier than ever. Thanks to the BIMobject App for Twinmotion, you now have access to a free, instant and unlimited download of more than 350,000 smart BIM objects from the nearly 1,300 manufacturers hosted on the platform! Watch the short teaser video below for a quick look at how to move a BIM object into your Twinmotion user library.
Downloading an item from BIMobject is as simple as working with Twinmotion. In this post, we’ll show you step-by-step how to use the new BIMobject App to embellish your Twinmotion projects and enrich your Twinmotion user library in just a few clicks.
Step 1 / 2: Sign up for a BIMobject account
The BIMobject function is located under the Urban dock > BIMobject. The service is free, but for your first connection, you must create a BIMobject account to gain access to the object catalog. You can also sign in using your Google, LinkedIn or Autodesk account, whichever is most convenient.
After you have created an account, Twinmotion will ask for your permission to connect and download objects from BIMobject, as well as to use this service offline. Make your choices and click on “Allow access.” You’re all set!
Step 2 / 2: Find your object and download it
With thousands of objects at your fingertips, the choices are endless! To search for a specific object, type the object’s name directly in the search bar or add a category or brand filter. Press on the “Send to Twinmotion User Library” button when your choice is made; the object is instantly downloaded and added to your user library.
Customize your BIM object
All objects from the BIMobject cloud catalog can be customized. Change the material of the object to match your design style, add a bump or reflection map to make it more realistic; an ordinary table can look chic after your creative touch in Twinmotion.
Check the BIM information
Twinmotion retrieves not only the geometries of a BIM object but also its BIM information. For instance, the product ID, name, width, height, depth, weight, brand, main/second material and product family/group can easily be found under the BIM information in the right-hand panel.
Adding objects to a scene is the easiest way to reflect your rendering style and make your project stand out. With the integration of the BIMobject cloud catalog, you now have infinite possibilities to embellish Twinmotion projects in mere seconds.
